Not only is Biathlon Canada’s 2021-22 Board of Directors one of the most gender-balanced in the history of the organization, but Biathlon Canada has also made moves to ensure gender inclusion is part of the organization’s leadership going forward.
At the 2021 AGM last October, Board members, Biathlon Canada staff, Division representatives, athletes, and members of the biathlon community witnessed the passing of a new bill that would mandate gender inclusion on the Board of Directors. In addition, it saw the election of five new Directors and two incumbents.
The motion to adopt the amendment of By-law 17 would ensure that no one gender identity accounts for more than 60% of the total number of Directors. “The research is clear, more diversity leads to stronger teams and organizations. Being gender inclusive is now embedded within the fabric of our organization with the changes made to bylaw 17,” commented Biathlon Canada President, Lyle McLeod. “There is still much work to do in promoting gender-balance and gender inclusion in our coaching, officiating, and athlete communities, but this is a great step forward.”
Biathlon Canada’s Board now includes 55% individuals identifying as female and 45% individuals identifying as male, making it one of the most gender-balanced Boards Biathlon Canada has seen.

Roger Archambault, and incumbents
Peter Pekos and Ron Pelletier. These directors bring a vast array of skills and competencies to the organization including finance and accounting, sport management, education and development, marketing, communications, and philanthropy. They join
Mike Walker,
Megan Imrie,
Sarah Dentry, and President
Lyle McLeod as Board members for the 2021-22 year.
