Update: Canadian Championships 2021

The host organizing committee for Canadian Biathlon Championships 2021, the Fédération québécoise de biathlon (FQB), have come to the difficult decision that they are unable to host Nationals 2021 at the Centre de biathlon Myriam-Bédard, USS Valcartier. The COVID-19 situation in Quebec and the measures implemented by the venue limiting access, make the event impossible to host in Valcartier. In addition, Biathlon Canada has decided that there will not be a Canadian Championship at one central venue for the 2020-2021 season in order to prioritize safety for all.

Biathlon Canada would like to thank the FQB for all their work preparing for this event under such difficult circumstances for the second year in a row.

Biathlon Canada is working through a number of scenarios to host a safe national competition in 2020-2021. “Our priority this year is to maximize the safety of all participants and stakeholders while keeping our members engaged and developing,” Jacqueline Akerman, Manager Athlete and Coach Development shared. “Although we will not be able to come together in one location this season, we are currently considering many options for National engagement.” Biathlon Canada is reviewing possibilities to host an event in multiple regional locations from coast to coast to coast and virtual options. More information will follow in the coming months.
